7.5 Miles Today
Left the house at 5:30 a.m. today. Didn't get very far and it was pitch black outside except for the streetlights and occasional porch light when, for a split second, the sidewalk seemed to lunge at me. I quickly realized it was a toad the size of a KFC biscuit and, in the dim light, it blended in with the sidewalk until it jumped at me. Poor thing was about a half an inch away from being squashed by my size 10 and a half sneaker!

Caught up with my 4 teammates and three of their dogs a few minutes later and off we went. The weather was blessedly cool and quite enjoyable albeit a bit humid. As we passed the brightly lit football field at Richardson High School, we were serenaded by the marching band (oh, all right, they were just tuning up to practice when we happened by; so we actually heard an interesting mix of sounds...)

After returning home about 7:20 a.m., I took a break to drink water and read the newspaper. Then, Bogie and I headed out to finish up the last few miles.

Thursday, October 4th ~ No Training
Skipped training today but I did go to big Baylor for another segment of their cancer educational series. This one was titled Complementary Medicine for Cancer Patients. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the speaker. She covered a myriad of topics including massage, biothermal treatment, sea bands, yoga, aromatherapy, Tai Chi, Shibashi, sound healing and imagery/visualization/meditation. Very interesting stuff.
