Well, here I went again... no sneakers or yoga mats today. I did go to Gilda's Club this evening to listen to Dr. Collins of UT Southwestern talk about "What's New in Leukemia and Lymphoma". Having survived Hodgkin's Disease and also being at elevated risk of leukemia, I was, needless to say, most interested in this topic. I have to say that Dr. Collins did an excellent presentation and I learned quite a bit. Lots of new things happening in oncology research these days. As I'm apt to say, you can never know too much!
I did take a moment to add up my training miles and I'm up to 586. To put that number of miles in perspective, one way, it would be like walking to Memphis, St. Louis or Albuquerque. Round trip, I could walk to San Antonio or Wichita and back ..... (I figure that to walk 586 miles, would take 167 hours. So, if I left right now, I could get there by, say.... 2008 :0)
Wednesday, September 26 ~ No Training
OK, I confess that I skipped training today. But, I think I had a good reason. I spent the day getting ready for an annual book exchange for my Altrusa of Richardson friends(http://www.altrusarichardson.com). I started this about 5 years ago and due to surgeries, this is the first time in a few

And, even though we all end up with a pile of books to take home, there are always tons left over. The "leftovers" normally all go to the library for their annual book sale. But, this year, I'm going to hold out a dozen or so to send to the troops overseas.
