Sunday, June 24 ~ 7 Miles
Loaded up my pink back sack with water, a towel, kleenex, umbrella, apple, almonds, skeeter spray, sunscreen and cell phone early this morning. As I headed towards east Richardson, I stopped and had a nice visit with our Mayor Pro Tem who was enjoying his newspaper on his front porch. After a few minutes, I continued on my walk. Got to Lana's and took about a 15 minute rest and water break then walked back home.
Headed out again about noon; this time to mom's and guess what? No mom. After a few minutes she showed up and we had a good chat. I then walked home which put my total miles for the day at just 7.
In the afternoon, I did some water aerobics for the first time. This is sure alot easier & cooler than walking a dozen miles! Several people have told me that it really is good exercise and I suppose I'll find out for myself. Still plan on continuing with yoga though.
Saturday, June 23 ~ 9 Miles
Got a late start walking today... left at 10:00 a.m. and walked to Janie's house in Canyon Creek. Although it was only 84 degrees, it felt like a hundred, the humidity was that high. I was glad that at the last moment before heading out the door, I grabbed a cotton bandana. I also had an extra bottle of water that I used to wet the bandana which really kept my neck cool. A week or so ago, I also bought half a dozen of the little hand held battery operated fans at the Dollar Tree. Such a deal; they even come with the two batteries in the package. At a buck a piece, they are just about disposable after the batteries run down!
Needless to say, I bet I looked a bit odd; lime green shorts, pink back sack, hot pink shirt, pink/white striped hat, sunglasses and a purple fan hanging around my neck. I'll have you know that waving that little fan around my face and the back of my neck really worked wonders, especially when I hit long stretches of no shade along Campbell Road.
Oh yes.... I found a dime and 3 pennies today. Am now up to $0.59!!!
All-in-all, nine miles was all I could manage today. Probably could have gone further had I started walking earlier in the a.m.
