6 Miles This Morning
Richard and I drove to Houston late yesterday morning to attend his maternal Loverde family reunion. We stayed at a schmantzy hotel near the Galleria that had a terrific exercise room so I could walk. I got up early as usual and hit the boring treadmill and after just six miles, I'd had enough.

The family reunion was great as usual. There were just at one hundred related Italians eating pasta and meatballs, kids running about, a man playing the mandolin, singing, visiting and just plain merriment for over 3 hours. As I looked around the room, I thought that we could easily have been celebrating in the Loverde ancestral home of Sicily by the names of the relatives who were there (i.e., Vitanza, Bua, Adamo, Cuilla, Ferrara, Crappito, Trapolino, Loverde and many more!)

There was a poster on the wall that had some terrific quotes on it. Here's one I liked in particuar: "Buona salute e' la vera ricchezza". It means "good health is true wealth".... At the moment I feel pretty darn good, so I truly am wealthy.
