9.5 Miles Today
Walked to Janie's house in Canyon Creek this a.m. While picking up a newspaper and walking it to a neighbor's front door, I noticed a tiny little sparrow on the circular driveway. It was so little that it either fell out of the nest or this was it's first flight. I gently picked it up and put it in the grass under the tree; didn't want it to get squashed by a car.

Just read this and thought I'd share it: Too often I would hear men boast of the miles covered that day, rarely of what they had seen. ~ Louis L'Amour

So, I hope everyone who checks my blog enjoys reading what I post about my walking encounters.

On the way home, I found a nickel in the middle of Campbell Road.... training cents are now up to 93 cents... I have to say the last few miles were tough.... A good description would be that it felt like "one exceptionally long hot flash"...... Temp this morning was in the low 90's and today's high is supposed to be 103 degrees....

Passed on training today for no particular reason; must get serious tomorrow. Maybe I should hang my sneakers back on the the front door knob.

Saturday, August 13 - 0 Miles
Spent the day running errands and that night went to a very special celebration. Dear friend Laurie received her Ph.D., realizing her life time goal. Laurie, if you are reading this, you are an inspiration to me!

Got up early and went to Whole Foods and bought a bunch of stuff to make a "healing basket" for a friend who was having surgery in the afternoon. Also bought an aloe vera plant and while I was re-potting it, a black paper wasp buzzed me on the elbow.... yeeooooow! I popped a Benedryl and finsihed up. I then drove to the hospital in time for a visit and hugs before the surgery.

Also made dinner for another friend who just broke her shoulder. Since my mom broke her shoulder and foot six weeks ago, I figured I had enough experience to help out.
