~ Six Mile Morning
Got up about 5:30 and then hit the sidewalk at 6:15 a.m. today.... have to say that it's quite nice to start walking before the world wakes up. I stayed on my street and cul-de-sacs until the sun started to rise just for safety reasons. Anyway, while I was rounding the bend on one cul-de-sac across the street from our house, I noticed something out of the corner of my right eye and I turned and paused just in time to watch a coyote literally take off when he saw me... he almost crashed into a privacy fence before making a quick turn that took him back to the creek. At least this coyote still fears humans which is a normal response. (Often times, well intentioned people feed these animals not realizing the damage to their natural instincts it causes.)
Not long after that, I put my headphones on (I do leave them on a very low volume, again for safety reasons; and I don't use them outside of my neighborhood). Almost immediately a great oldie started playing and if you were born before 1960, you probably know this one.... "There she was just a-walkin' down the street, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do" Snappin' her fingers and shufflin' her feet, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do" What a great song to walk to!
