~ No Miles Again
Two of my teammates and their daughters walked this a.m. to the I-Hop on Central Expressway. Since I'm still on hiatus from the sun, I drove over there and met up with them for breakfast. Two of the daughters are in the 7th grade and one is in the 5th grade. They were delightful young ladies and I'm glad they came along. (Can't say I envied one of the girl's breakfast of chocolate pancakes with chocolate chips topped with whipped cream.... )

It was just two days ago that tests confirmed my intolerance to gluten and dairy products. I had already avoided these foods when one of my doctors ordered the tests three weeks ago and now I know it will need to be a lifetime thing. Between books from our library, the internet (of course, ha.), trips to Whole Foods and talking to others, I am quickly getting in the new groove. For those who are unaware, people who are sensitive to gluten and/or dairy can have problems with a very long list of health issues including asthma, acid reflux and a crappy immune system like mine.

This is not going to be an easy adjustment, but it is do-able. As I realized twenty years ago when I had my first cancers, knowing that I have the ability to help myself through wise eating decisions is empowering. Even then, in 1987, I tried macrobiotic cooking as well as a strict vegetarian regimine. Have to say I couldn't stick with either of those, but I think I've done well over the years with generally eating healthy.

Just two more days of meds and then I can get back outside for sneakers and sidewalks. I bet my neighbors are wondering where I've been lately. I have to say it has been wonderful to have so many neighbors honking and waving to cheer me on. It will help even more than they'll ever know as our thermometers (both inside and out!) continue to rise!

Wednesday, June 6th ~ No Miles & No Yoga
Took the day off from walking since I'm still on the antibiotics and need to avoid the sun.

Tuesday, June 5th ~ Yoga Today
Went to yoga today. Bharati added a few new moves to the session that woke up a few more new muscles. Am really enjoying yoga and will try to go at least twice a week.
